RV Freezer Defrost

When we bought our RV, we knew the freezer needed periodic defrosting. But, being that freezers are so easy to neglect, it was a full 8 months before we got around to it. By then, we had about 2-3 inches of frost on the back! When we could no longer fit our favorite pizza in the freezer, it was time to take action!

As it turns out, it was a super easy process! While the manual clearly says to not use a hair dryer, we ignored that garbage and did it anyway! It would take some serious effort to damage anything with a hairdryer. The hair dryer method worked great and we were done in about 20 minutes!

To help us with future defrosting, we placed some thin plastic cutting boards in the back. This is supposed to collect the frost so it's simpler to defrost by just removing the sheets.

Fast forward another 5 months! Yes… life gets in the way sometimes (so does laziness ). While the frost had overtaken the cutting sheets, they were still super helpful in the process! This time it tool about 10 minutes in total!

This time we asked Siri to remind us to defrost the freezer in 3 months.
